Designed to Help Businesses Create Greater Workplace Experience and Propel Growth

by Suman Gupta

February , Mumbai, India – Steelcase, the leading global brand in innovative workplace solutions, furniture, and technology products, officially opened its new WorkLife Center in Indiranagar, Bengaluru today. The new home for Steelcase in India is strategically located to allow easy access from the Central Business District and areas with the highest concentration of startups, architecture & design firms, and other creative industries, offering customers a world of inspiring ideas and new workplace experiences to help them drive staff engagement and business performance.

Spanning over 12,740 square-foot space, the WorkLife Center occupies a modern, four-storey standalone building featuring a double-height glass façade and an outdoor terrace. The design of the WorkLife Center celebrates teamwork as the dominant mode of work today, demonstrating regionally relevant applications of Steelcase’s furniture and solutions that empower agile-inspired teams, especially those working in Bengaluru’s thriving technology industry. Users and visitors of the WorkLife Center will experience human-centered spaces designed for collaboration and individual focus-tasks, as well as high-performance shared spaces – all curated based on Steelcase’s 6 key ancillary principles: Privacy, Posture, Proximity, Personality, Productivity and Psychological Comfort.

As visitors arrive, they will be greeted at a communal oak café table by a concierge, before entering the WorkCafé – a welcoming and informal space, where guests and Steelcase employees can dine, meet, socialise and connect, kickstarting the showcase of an array of workplace settings: Focus, Collaborate, Connect and Rejuvenate. The identity of this WorkLife Center pays homage to the city’s traditional past while celebrating its dynamic, technology-driven present and future. Drawing upon the city’s agricultural heritage and its recognition as India’s ‘Garden City’, the architecture of the space forms a pristine backdrop of natural materials, textures and colours, allowing the carefully curated collections showcased within to infuse vibrancy and become the focal point.

Praveen Rawal, Managing Director of Steelcase India, SARRC and Design Application APAC said, “The opening of this new WorkLife Center in Bengaluru comes at a time when leaders and organizations in India are focused on staying ahead in the disruptive economy. This space will serve as a platform for our customers to experience our innovative workplace solutions surrounding people, place and technology, helping them create a new kind of work space and culture that will lead to better employee experiences and support their business growth.”

Highlights of products and solutions showcased include:

  • Migration SE Pro is the new generation of height-adjustable desking platform with new design, powerful performance and robust stability. The highly customizable collection is re-engineered for enhanced safety and stability. Its new motor technology enables a smooth, seamless and remarkably silent transition between postures, whilst its refined understructure is visually lighter, yet has improved structural integrity that makes it sturdier than ever.

  • Flex Collection, winner of NeoCon 2019, is an integrated range of furniture and accessories designed to provide flexibility to meet the needs of modern teams and support hyper-collaboration. The collection includes moveable desks, tables, markerboards, carts, screens and accessories. Wheels, directional rollers and glides make all the elements easy to move. Anyone can easily reconfigure its pieces and adjust boundaries and screens to suit different work modes at any time.

  • Alongside the Flex collection, Orangebox’s award-winning Air³ acoustic pod can act as a freestanding meeting room, private space, phone booth or touchdown room. The Air³ combines new materials with a wider range of finishes and the most advanced room system on the market, all of which helps make it the world’s most complete pod system.

  • Umami Lounge System – Umami seating, tables and screens offer a variety of configurations, sizes and material options. It’s designed to create informal spaces that promote and enhance creativity.

  • Providing high performance comfort and support, the Brody WorkLounge features patented LiveLumbar™ technology—bringing thoughtful ergonomic design to the lounge posture. The adjustable worksurface holds technology at eye level, reducing neck and shoulder strain.

  • SW_1 is a lounge-inspired conferencing solutions collection designed by Scott Wilson and MINIMAL that creates hybrid collaborative space that’s part conference, part lounge.

  • The LexCo desking system with modular configurations, inspiring interaction and reciprocity by opening up the workspace, adding personality to the floorplan without compromising performance and comfort.

  • Series 1 office chair – one of Steelcase’s signature seating products, with integrated LiveBack® technology with adjustable lumber support, adaptive bolstering and 4D adjustable arms, Steelcase Series 1 delivers dynamic performance without sacrificing attainability.
