Nivam Orthopaedics Partners with Surya Hospitals to Establish Specialised Orthopaedic Centres in Mumbai

by Suman Gupta

Mumbai, 20th October 2026: Nivam Orthopaedics, founded by orthopaedic surgeons Dr. Nilen Shah and Dr. Manan Shah has partnered with Surya Hospitals to establish a network of specialised orthopaedic centres across Mumbai. The centres at Santacruz and Chembur are already operational, with the flagship Santacruz facility set to be formally inaugurated on Dussehra.

Designed to provide comprehensive, patient-centric care, the centres combine modern medical technology with access to orthopaedic specialists. The network will expand further with a centre in Kandivali, expected to be operational by the end of the year, followed by a facility in South Mumbai.

The collaboration combines Nivam’s focused orthopaedic expertise with Surya Hospitals’ established clinical infrastructure and multidisciplinary capabilities. The centres will offer care for joint conditions, spine disorders, sports injuries and orthopaedic trauma, including primary and complex joint replacement, revision procedures, and robotic-assisted and minimally invasive surgery.

Care will extend across the patient journey, from assessment and treatment planning to surgery, peri-operative care, physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Following thorough assessment, surgery will be offered only to those patients who clinically require it; the centres will also maintain strong departments for non-surgical care. Treatment options will be guided by individual clinical needs, with an emphasis on appropriate patient selection, safety and recovery.

Building on Surya’s Multidisciplinary Strengths

Dr Nilen Shah and Dr Manan Shah developed Nivam Orthopaedics to integrate surgical experience, technology and rehabilitation within a coordinated model of orthopaedic care. Dr. Nilen Shah has practised joint replacement surgery since the 1990s, while Dr. Manan Shah has contributed to the platform’s technology-supported approach. These centres will operate as part of Surya Hospitals’ broader clinical ecosystem, complementing the care already provided across the network.

Dr. Bhupendra S. Avasthi, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, Surya Hospitals, said, “Our partnership with Nivam Orthopaedics brings additional specialised orthopaedic expertise to Surya locations across Mumbai. Surya has long been established for paediatric orthopaedic work, and with women accounting for nearly 80 percent of joint and orthopaedic problems including joint replacement, this is a natural extension of our specialty services. Dr. Nilen Shah and Dr. Manan Shah have developed a focused model of joint replacement and comprehensive orthopaedic care. Together, we aim to make these services more accessible within our hospitals and to support patients through every stage of treatment and recovery.”

Dr. Nilen Shah, Founder, Nivam Orthopaedics, said, “Nivam was built on the belief that orthopaedic care should combine sound clinical judgement, appropriate technology and a clear recovery plan. Establishing our centres with Surya Hospitals allows patients across Mumbai to access this coordinated approach, supported by teams that can guide them from diagnosis through treatment and rehabilitation. We are pleased to begin this journey with patients at the heart of the centres’ inauguration.”

Dr. Manan Shah, Consultant Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement Surgeon, Nivam Orthopaedics said, “Technology is central to improving surgical precision and patient outcomes. Supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure and an ethos of coordinated, patient-focused care, these centres are designed to help people return to the lives they want to lead.”
