PIFA Sports, Atlanta FC score contrasting wins

Mumbai:  PIFA Sports (Colaba) FC and Atlanta FC registered contrasting victories in their respective Elite Division matches of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) and played at the Neville D’Souza turf, Bandra on Thursday.

In a hard-fought match, PIFA Sports dished out a determined performance and managed to snatch a 1-0 win against Rudra FC with striker Rohit Mirza scoring the all-important winning goal in the 62nd minute to seal the full three points for his team.

Later, Atlanta FC combined perfectly as a well-knit unit and outplayed Mumbai Strikers SC charging to a convincing 4-0 victory. Atlanta dominated play from the start and by the half hour strikers Shravan Shetty scored two goals (4th & 29th minutes) to take a solid 2-0 half-time lead. Later, substitute Tousif Malik added two more goals (73rd & 90+2nd minutes) to round-off the winning tally.

Earlier, in a Second Division encounter, United Villagers Welfare Association (UVWA) defeated Milan FA 5-2. The highlight of UVWA win was striker Stanley Diniz who scored a fine hat-trick, while teammates Bikas Yadav and Joslan Shravnya netted one each to clinch the win. Ankush Mohan and Sandip Jagtap struck a goal each to help Milan FA reduce the margin of defeat.

Results – Second Div: SG5-Bharat FC 4 (Siddhant Sangam 2, Aryan Palande, Shubham Pednekar) beat Milan FA U-19 1 (Mohd. Rayyan).

United Villagers WA 5 (Stanley Diniz 3, Bikas Yadav, Joslan Shravnya) beat Milan FA 2 (Ankush Mohan, Sandip Jagtap).

Boxer FA 1 (Atharva Akre) drew with Teresarian  FA 1 (Kunal R.).

Elite Div: PIFA Sports (Colaba) FC 1 (Rohit Mirza) beat Rudra FC 0.

Atlanta FC 4 (Shravan Shetty 2, Tousif Malik 2) beat Mumbai Strikers SC 0.
