A farmer who understands land records, knows documentation required for compensation, understanding one’s rights, separate facts from myths always makes informed decisions about his land.
This World Literacy Day, Khavda 4C Power Transmission Limited is taking forward a simple but powerful idea: an informed farmer is an empowered farmer.
Khavda 4C’s engagement with farmers goes beyond project execution. The company continuously works to create awareness around land compensation processes, required documentation, ownership records, the importance of transmission infrastructure and commonly held misconceptions about living and farming around transmission lines.
For farmers, timely and accurate information can make the compensation process easier to navigate and reduce uncertainty. Understanding which documents are required, why ownership verification matters and what steps need to be undertaken enables farmers to participate in the process with greater confidence.
From Information to Empowerment
A strong example is Khavda 4C’s facilitation of the Pot Hissa Survey in Bhiwandi Taluka. The survey helps establish the ownership share of individual landholders. This is particularly important where families have informally divided land but the 7/12 extract continues to show joint ownership, which can lead to uncertainty and disputes during compensation.
Khavda 4C coordinated with the Taluka Inspector of Land Records (TILR) and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Bhiwandi, with 105 of 115 identified survey numbers across 15 of 16 villages mapped in just three days. The exercise helped open a substantial portion of the Right of Way corridor and enabled the compensation process to move forward based on verified ownership records.
Busting Myths, Building Understanding
Farmer literacy also extends beyond compensation. Khavda 4C’s community communication focuses on explaining the purpose of transmission towers, addressing commonly held myths and helping farmers understand the realities associated with transmission infrastructure.
