KVIC celebrates 73th Republic Day at its H.Q., Mumbai

Mumbai, 26 January, 2022: Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) celebrated the 73th Republic Day with utmost patriotic fervour. Ms. Preeta Verma, Chief Executive Officer, KVIC unfurled the National Flag in a solemn flag-hoisting ceremony which was organized at KVIC, H.Q., Mumbai, in the presence of Ms. Ashima Gupta, Financial Advisor, KVIC, Dr. Sanghamitra, CVO, KVIC,  Shri Y. K. Baramatikar,  Jt. CEO, KVIC and other senior officials and staff, who paid reverence to the Constitution of India.

Addressing the occasion, Ms. Preeta Verma, Chief Executive Officer, KVIC highlighted the importance of the India’s Constitution. She spoke about the provisions made in the Indian Constitution which encouraged Village Industries and she also highlighted the role of KVIC in the villages’ upliftment. In addition to that, she congratulated KVIC for achieving sales of Rs. 3500 crores in this year and PMEGP for achieving the target of margin money of Rs. 2180 crores in FY 2020-21.  She also set a target of Rs. 2850 crores under PMEGP for FY 2021-22.  Ms. Verma spoke about Honey Mission, under which KVIC had distributed more than 15,000 bee boxes across India. In addition to these, she praised Khadi India for organising Khadi Quiz and Khadi Fashion Show for Fashion of Excellence, under the on-going ‘Amrit Mahotsav’.  She spoke about KVIC signing a MoU with CSIR for R & D in various Village Industries like pottery, honey and others, in which they have tied up with 5 centres for Centre for Excellence in order to provide training. She also spoke very high about Khadi India’s Prakritik Paint, which has been widely appreciated throughout the country. Lastly, she congratulated all the KVIC for bagging the first prize in the ‘Government Category’ under BMC’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

The speech was followed by the National Anthem. Senior officials and staff of the KVIC attended the flag hoisting ceremony by following the necessary guidelines issued by safety on Covid 19 epidemic.

A film on khadi was shown on the occasion, which was prepared for a national audience by the Directorate of Publicity, KVIC. This film was inaugurated by Hon’ble MSME Minister recently.
