Karnatak SA blank Mumbai Strikers 2-0

Mumbai: Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) had things very much under control and scored two quick goals midway through the first half to storm past Mumbai Strikers by a 2-0 score line in an Elite Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2019-2020 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground.

Opportunistic striker Deepak Pal scored the first goal in the 20th minute and seven minutes later Abuzer Baig netted the second to seal KSA’s victory.

Earlier, Reserve Bank of India goalkeeper Bhushan Patil mde three superb saves in the penalty shootout duel to ensure his team overcame Air India Youth Team 3-1 via the tie-breaker in the semi-final match of the Mohammed Hussain Memorial knockout football tournament for Super Division clubs. The match finished in a goalless draw.

Reserve Bank successfully converted through Rolfred Coutinho, Shlok Raut and Prathmesh Rokade to clinch the win. Air India scored only one through Abhinav Sebastian, while Samson Keishing Keegan Pinto and Dhanesh Shetty all failed to beat RBI custodian Patil and they finished on the losing side.

Results – Elite Div: Karnatak Sporting Association 2 (Deepak Pal 20, Abuzer Baig 27) beat Mumbai Strikers 0.

Super Div knockout (semi-finals): Reserve Bank of India 3 (Rolfred Coutinho, Shlok Raut, Prathmesh Rokade) beat Air India Youth Team 1 (Abhinav Sebastian) via the tie-breaker. Full-time: 0-0.

Second Div: Maurya Foundation 3 (Hussain Ali, Yash Potdar, Silvester Chunekar) beat Mumbai City FC ‘B’ 1 (Aaadil Sheikh).
