Angriya sails to Sri Lanka on a mission to facilitate Crew change & relieve stranded Seamen .

Angriya, Goa’s very own cruise ship and India’s pride has reached Galle port on the 20th of December 2020 on a mission to assume duties as a mid- sea home vessel for Seamen, majority of them will be of Indian Origin. At present there are more than 4 Lakh Seamen waiting to come home.

Angriya performs the duty of a safe sea bubble for sailors who will arrive from passing ships and depart for their home  or join ship  to resume duties that are crucial for maritime operations across the globe. The ship, manned completely by Indian marine and hospitality crew is now stationed in Sri Lankan waters for the next 3 months in its first phase of Operations.

Capt. Nitin Dhond, Chairman & MD, Angriya Sea Eagle Ltd informed that “This is a proud moment for us at Angriya Sea Eagle Ltd to be of service to Sailors and Seamen who have been stranded across the globe due to limited frequency of flights to return home or join ships in covid 19 situation.

Angriya is India’s first Domestic cruise ship and dedicated to the memory of Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre, the first Admiral of the Maratha Navy.  

Angriya completed two sailing seasons from 2018-2020 between the Goa- Mumbai route before operations were halted due to the pandemic. There are plans to resume operations in mid 2021 after normalcy returns.

Leena Kamat Prabhu, Executive Vice Chairman of Angriya Sea Eagle Ltd has expressed gratitude towards DG Shipping and Mumbai & Goa Port Authorities for their support. Avant Garde Maritime Services (Pvt) Ltd Sri Lanka, have entrusted trust in Angriya for this operation that is the first of its kind for any ship.

Committed to lead from the front in service to the nation as an Indian flag bearing ship, Angriya, is now anchored near the Galle port and has already started receiving its first batch of Seamen.
