MR LAL GOEL APPEALED TO REDUCE AIR TRANSPORT CHARGES ON ORGANS BY AIRLINES

Mumbai 11th October, Mr Lal Goel Chairman Organ Donation India Foundation & GYAN met Mr Rajeev Wadhwa Chairman of Book My Charters at Taj Santacruz and discussed in detail the challenges faced by Organ recipients for intercity air transport of Organs.

Mr Goel raised the issue of high charges by Airlines & Charter flight operators.

Mr Wadhwa in reply mentioned that there is no waiver on Airport Tax by the Airport Authority & Private Airport Operators on Charter Flights transporting Organs, which is approx Rupee one lakh.

He further said that, unlike Air Ambulance where no GST is applicable, 18% GST is charged by Government on flights transporting Organs, which is approx another Rupee one lakh.

Mr Wadhwa appealed to Mr Goel to urge the government to subsidies such flights by waiving the Airport Tax, GST and tax on Aircraft Fuel.

Mr Rajeev Wadhwa assured Mr Lal Goel that he will also ask the Charter Flight Operators to give maximum concession for air transport of Organs to save many lives.

The meeting was also attended by *Mr Ramnath Pradeep* Former Chairman & Managing Director of Corporation Bank.
