John Bright and MV Sports win

Mumbai, October 23: John Bright CC and M.V. Sports Club played with solid determination and managed to snatch narrow victories on the basis of the first innings lead in rescheduled Round-3 Division ‘D’ matches of the 76th Dr. H.D. Kanga Cricket League 2023-2024.

Batting first John Bright CC were dismissed for 129 runs in 38.4 overs in their first innings. But their bowlers produced a remarkable performance to bowl out Bohra Cricketers for 128 runs in 35.1 and clinch a slender 1-run first innings lead which secured a win, at the Youths Own CC ground, Cross Maidan.

M.V. Sports Club who were bundled out cheaply for just 59 runs in 27.2 overs in their first innings staged a gallant fight back through their bowlers and restricted the Rajasthan SC first innings to 55 all out in 17.2 overs and claim a 4-run first innings lead to finish on a winning note, at the Western Railway Cross Maidan.

Ours Cricket Club and S.K.P. Athletic Club also won their respective matches on the first innings lead.

Brief scores – Division ‘B’: Ours Cricket Club — 1st innings: 197 all out, 41.5 overs (Manager Motilal Gupta 52, Jatin Gharat 38; Balkrushna Shirke 3/52, Pratik Sharma 2/18, Rohan Jadhav 2/26, Sanket Joshi 2/50) Vs Evergreen Sports Club — 1st innings: 41 all out, 22.1 overs (Atish Walinjkr 7/25, Virat Mishra 2/0) & 2nd innings (follow-on): 111 for 3, 19 overs (Sanket Joshi 52, Balkrushna Shirke 46). Result: Ours Cricket Club won on 1st inning lead.

M.V. Sports Club — 1st innings: 59 all out, 27.2 overs (Rohit Bhere 6/17, Atul More 3/13) & 2nd innings: 58 all out, 26.4 overs (Pankaj Pardeshi 5/16, Kartikey Shukla 4/13) Vs Rajasthan SC — 1st innings: 55 all out, 17.2 overs (Jalil Ahmed Khan 7/18, Shailesh Dubli 3/10) & 2nd innings: 12 for 1, 1 over. Result: M.V. Sports Club won on 1st innings lead.

John Bright CC — 1st innings: 129 all out, 38.4 overs (Harsh Choudhari 25*; Ravindra Sathe 5/44, Omkar Tamale 3/17) & 2nd innings: 29 for 3, 8 overs Vs Bohra Cricketers — 1st innings: 128 all out, 35.1 overs (Akshay Lanjekar 50, Onkar Tarmale 27; Yash Khaladkar 5/45, Amit Kumar Kanojia 2/19). Result: John Bright won on 1st innings lead.

Matunga Gymkhana — 1st innings: 287 for 9 declared, 48 overs (Utkarsh Raut 74, Yogesh Dicholkar 73*, Bipin Waghela 42; Amit Pandey 4/106, Atharva Poojari 2/24, Hrishikesh Gore 2/37) Vs Superstar SC — 1st innings: 170 for 6, 23 overs (Harsh Aghav 49, Vaibhav Chougalle 43, Atharva Poojari 36; Nikhil Date 3/38, Moondeep Mangela 2/19). Result: Match drawn.

Athletic Club won on 1st innings lead.

Prabhu Jolly — 1st innings: 242 for 6 declared, 40.3 overs (Shashank Kumar 85, Santosh Shinde 58, Vishal Jain 40, Harshal Waghmare 35; Amit Sharma 3/48) Vs United Friends SC — 1st innings: 182 for 8, 39 overs (Amit Sharma 68, Shreyash Jadhav 32, Chaitnaya Patil 25; Santosh Shinde 5/58, Vishal Jain 2/55). Result: Match drawn.
