YMCA state athletics meet from Thursday

Mumbai: An overwhelming number of 3600 entries have been received for the 46th Bombay YMCA State-Level Annual Athletic Meet 2023, organized under the auspices of the Maharashtra State Athletics Association by the Bombay YMCA, Physical Education Department, which will be conducted at the Mumbai University Pavilion tracks, Marine Lines starting from Thursday, November 16, 2023.

Leo Salins, General Secretary of Bombay YMCA, in a media release, said “This state level meet, which is one of the prestigious events in the athletics calendar has attracted participation from Maharashtra’s emerging athletes for the past 46 years, witnessing the shattering of numerous state records. This event consists of competition for budding boys and girls in the under-8, under-10, under-12, under-14, under-16 and under-18 age categories, men and women participants”.

“There will also be competition for men and women in the 35+ and 45+ age categories. All leading athletes will be competing for the top honours in their respective disciplines,” the release added.

Sebastian Paul, Assistant General Secretary, Bombay YMCA, informed that athletes from schools, colleges, gymkhana/clubs and institutions, from Mumbai Metropolitan Region, Palghar, Kalyan, Panvel, Thane and surrounding districts have confirmed their participation in this track and field meet.
