Chennai, November , 2017: TI Cycles of India, one of the leading bicycle manufacturers in India, and a part of the Murugappa Group launches a massive initiative towards a healthier India. TI Cycles has been organizing “Fun Fitness Freedom” or FFF rides for several years now to promote the use of bicycles for a happier, healthier and greener environment.
India has the unfortunate status of having the 2nd largest number of Diabetics in the world after China. Diabetes currently affects more than 62 million Indians, more than 7.1% of adult population! Nearly 1 million Indians die due to diabetes every year and with current projections, this count is likely to increase from 62 million to 109 million individuals by 2035 if we don’t act NOW. This can well be attributed to a high calorie, low activity lifestyle led by a large number of Indians.
It is with this in mind that TI Cycles is organizing its next mega FFF ride across its 130+ Track & Trail stores on Sunday, 12th November 2017, just 2 days before World Diabetes Day. It is also apt that the event is scheduled 2 days before Children’s Day. So the theme of the ride is “Riding for a Healthier Future”.
The company hopes to see a turnout of more than 6,000 participants from all over the country, riding together to take a pledge for a healthier India.
To register for the FFF Ride in your city, simply log on to www.eventjini.com, search for “Track and Trail”, choose your state of participation for the “Fun Fitness Freedom” ride and register yourself.
TI Cycles operates the largest chain of bicycle stores under the brand name “Track & Trail” which retails India’s leading brands like BSA, Hercules, Mach City, Ladybird, Roadeo, Montra and a host of International brands like Ridley, Bianchi, Cannondale, GT, Schwinn, Mongoose and Dahon. The omni channel Track & Trail network actively promotes “Spreading the joy of cycling”. Besides the FFF ride, the company organizes, sponsors and participates in several other events to promote cycling.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. K R Chandrasekaran, President, TI Cycles of India said, “TI Cycles is committed to promoting a greener environment and a healthier lifestyle. Organizing more than 130 Cycle Rallies on a single day, in commemoration of World Diabetes Day, is another initiative in that direction. We would urge all the participants of these rides to commit themselves to a greener and healthier lifestyle.”
Mr. Sheriyar Unwalla, DGM Retail, TI Cycles of India said “It is good to see many adults taking to cycling for recreation, health and sport. This initiative however, aims to motivate people to choose a bicycle as a mode of transport to reduce traffic and pollution and consume less fuel, thereby reducing our carbon foot print and improving our health. The benefits of cycling for individuals and the environment we live in are immense and we hope that initiatives like this encourage people to choose a sustainable and healthy way of living.”
