TeamLease RegTech, NISM & FICCI jointly organise the Compliance and Governance Symposium in Mumbai

April 25, 2024, Mumbai: TeamLease RegTech, along with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, organised the ‘Compliance and Governance Symposium’ at Novotel, Mumbai International Airport. The event witnessed the participation of industry stalwarts as keynote speakers on the evolving role of technology in SEBI compliance and governance processes. The panels included renowned professionals — Mr. Vinay M A, Company Secretary & Compliance Officer, Marico; Mr. Onkar, Head of Legal, Company Secretary & Compliance Officer, EPL Limited; and Mr. Rishi Agrawal, Co-founder & CEO, TeamLease Regtech — who shed light on the integral role of technological advancements in enabling ease of doing business.

The conclave delved into the significant impacts of RegTech on simplifying compliance and enhancing governance standards across various sectors in the country. Presenting the other side of the regulatory ecosystem, representatives from the business community shared their corporate perspectives on regulatory complexity and the crucial role of technology in maintaining legal compliance.

Mr. Sundararaman Ramamurthy, MD & CEO, BSE, set the context and highlighted, “While technology ensures the ease of compliance, it does bring the responsibility of being cautious in today’s cyber threat” in his keynote address.

The panel discussion on how regulators are leveraging technology to boost efficiencies and ease the compliance burden was graced by esteemed speakers, including Ms. Richa Goel Agarwal, General Manager of SEBI; Mr. Avishkar Naik, Vice President of NSE; Mr. Vishwas Nagle, Senior Vice President, IT – CDSL; Mr. Vishal Gupta, Vice President, Technology – NSDL; and Ms. Renu Bhandari, Vice President, Inspection – NSE.

Mr. Rishi Agrawal, Co-founder & CEO of TeamLease Regtech, sharing his viewpoint during the panel discussion, said, “Regulatory technology is transforming the world of compliance. It is enabling organisations to reduce information asymmetry and increase control. The FICCI RegTech platform will enable ease of compliance for listed companies.”

Mr. Sandeep Agrawal, Co-Founder & Director of TeamLease RegTech, presented a demonstration of RegTech platforms providing SEBI compliance automation and showcasing how technology can increase visibility and control over compliance functions.

Mr. Deepak Trivedi, Chief General Manager of NISM, concluded the conference with an affirmatory stance, “The regulator is leading the curve by ensuring that technology is in place for in-depth data analysis and alert generation, moving away from periodical sample base data processing. The data and technology are the backbone of the regulator in the new leadership for SEBI v.2.”
