December 14th, 2022: The T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) a constituent unit of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, received Gold Award Certificate in the IMC Awards for Excellence in Management Education-2022 for its initiatives on sustainability. The awards were handed over by Former President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, in a function held at IIM Kozhikode on December 10th, 2022 during the 12th Indian Management Conclave (IMC) 2022 organized byhttp://MBAUniverse.Com.. Award winners were selected by an eminent jury after a rigorous multi-round selection process. 15 leading B-schools of the country participated in the IMC Awards Competition. Prof. Purnima Venkat and Prof. Aniruddha Chatterjee received the award on behalf of TAPMI for the institute’s ‘SEVA’ (Society Environment, Values and Attitudes) initiative.
The recognition is a major milestone and acknowledgment of the several improvements and innovations that have taken place since the early days of SEVA. Under the leadership of Prof. Madhu Veeraraghavan, Director TAPMI, the institute has committed to touch 100,000 lives by 2030 in meaningful, impactful ways. SEVA now extends to all 5 TAPMI Programs, boasts a roster of engaging with more than 220 projects over 5 years across government / corporate / NGOs and most importantly SMME clients. SEVA is managed by a dedicated team of faculty and staff, including Prof. Ishwar Haritas, Prof. Purnima Venkat, Prof. Aniruddha Chatterjee, Prof. Muneza Kagzi and supported efficiently by Ms. Latha Takur, and Ms. Anitha Shetty. SEVA has many advocates and evangelists amongst the entire faculty and staff community at TAPMI. Under SEVA, TAPMI students devise strategies that help clients achieve greater efficiency, better input management, more effective demand management etc. helping them do what responsible businesses do best, i.e., create wealth in equitable and effective ways. SEVA focuses on innovation, sector/ economic strategy, sustainable communities, transition to a net zero economy, and circular economy solutions.
The Director, Prof. Madhu Veeraraghavan says “At TAPMI Manipal, we believe that imparting knowledge and skills to contribute towards sustainable development is an essential part of creating business leaders for tomorrow. TAPMI is committed to education for business excellence keeping the tenets of sustainability in mind. People, planet and profit are central to our teaching at TAPMI and we believe in creating minds that are equipped to deal with the challenges of the future. “
TAPMI looks at sustainable development in all aspects of its work, from student engagement, partner engagement, to cutting-edge research in sustainable development. Sustainability is a critical part of the TAPMI way of life. From research based on SDG goals, community engagement and participation in local development, curricula, and live projects to projects and partners in the spheres of sustainability, TAPMI has integrated sustainability in most of its processes. It is the only Indian B-School that is recognized as a UNPRME Champion.
The institute is adding a full-fledged 12,000 sq ft Sustainability Hub for which the groundbreaking will take place at the Birth Centennial of the visionary founder Shri T A PAI on the 17th January 2023. Prof. Ishwar says “In fact, in all humility, we are merely carrying forward the exemplary legacy of both Shri T A PAI and Dr. TMA PAI.”
