SBI Chairman flags-off ‘Cycle Rally’ to create awareness about ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’

The cycle rally saw participation from over 200 SBI employees

Mumbai, August, 2022: The country’s largest bank, State Bank of India (SBI), organized a ‘cycle rally’ on the backdrop of the theme – Har Ghar Tiranaga – Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, to spread awareness about the campaign. Shri Dinesh Khara, the Chairman, SBI, flagged off the cycle rally that saw participation from over 200 SBI employees. On the momentous occasion of the 75th year of India’s independence, SBI endeavours to encourage people to bring home our national flag and aspires to uplift the spirit of patriotism in the hearts of the people through this campaign.

On the joyous occasion, Shri Dinesh Khara, Chairman, SBI, said, “This is a moment of great pride and cheerfulness for us. The bank has closely witnessed the evolution of our country since Independence and aims to celebrate the glorious history, heroic achievements, and rich culture of our nation. It is our honour to be a part of the ongoing nationwide celebration marking India’s 75th Independence Day through Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.”

The 5 km rally took place on Saturday morning of August 13, 2022, covering the route from SBI Corporate Centre, Nariman Point to Marine Drive and back.

With SBI’s digital strategy right on track – the bank witnessed 63% of new savings accounts opened through the integrated digital and lifestyle platform YONO in FY22. SBI observed 25,200 new digital savings bank accounts being opened per day via YONO in the quarter ended June 2022. YONO, which has 5.11 crore registered users, witnessed almost 1 crore average daily logins in Q1 FY23. In terms of digital lending, the bank disbursed pre-approved personal loans worth Rs. 4,403 crore through YONO in the same period. SBI also has the highest number of followers on Facebook and Twitter amongst all banks worldwide.
