PLEXCONNECT 2024: Second Edition Draws 400+ International Buyers from 50+ to India’s Premier Plastics Expo

Mumbai, June 07th, 2024 – The mega plastics exhibition PLEXCONNECT 2024, organized by the Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL) from June 7-9 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, was a resounding success, once again, firmly establishing India as a leading global sourcing destination for plastics products and machinery.

The three-day exhibition and conference kickstarted with widespread enthusiastic participation from the plastics fraternity across India and international buyers. Over 400 overseas buyers from 50+ major importing nations including Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Benin, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, Ethiopia, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Peru, Poland, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, and Zimbabwe among others attended arrived in India to network and source from Indian exporters.

The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Ravish Kamath, PLEXCONCIL Chairman Shri Hemant Minocha; Vice Chairman Shri Vikram Bhadauria; past Chairman Shri Arvind Goenka; Plexconnect 2024 convener Shri Dhruv Sayani, and Executive Director, Shri Sribash Dasmohapatra, Executive Director.

Speaking at the inaugural, Chief Guest Shri. Ravish Kamath said, “PLEXCONNECT 2024 exemplifies India’s prowess in the plastics industry, showcasing our innovative capabilities and strengthening global trade relationships. This event reaffirms India’s position as a premier destination for high-quality plastics products and machinery. The demand for polymers in India is outpacing GDP growth, projected to hit $30 billion by 2047, up from $3-4 trillion in 2022. With ₹5.5 lakh crores worth of new projects underway, the Indian petrochemical industry is pivotal in the nation’s aim to become a $1 trillion economy. This sector’s significance is underscored by government initiatives and international collaboration efforts.”

Being held in Hall 2&3, this second edition featured leading Indian manufacturers/ exporters including All Time Plastics, Autotech Sirmax, Avi Global Plast, Big Bags International, Bubna Polysack, Dalmia Polypro, Dynasty Plastics, Family Plastics and Thermoware, Flair Writing Industries, Gemcorp Recycling, Mamata Machinery, Mechemco Industries, Pashupati Excrusion, Prima Plastics, RMG Polyvinyl, Shibaura Machine, Sintex-BAPL, Sudhakar PVC Products, Suprabha Protective Products, SVP Packing Industry, The Supreme Industries, Uniloy Plastics Machinery and industry associations.

We are confident that with the dynamism and resilience of our Indian exporters combined with stable economic and political conditions prevailing in the country, our industry is well placed to increase its global market share rapidly,” said Hemant Minocha, Chairman.
Odisha and Andhra Pradesh had exclusive state pavilions displaying the manufacturing strengths of their local plastics clusters. The exhibitors are excited with the quality of buyers attendance at the exhibition and interest shown on the first day of PLEXCONNECT 2024.
Post the inaugural event, PLEXCONNECT’s Reverse Buyer Seller Meet (RBSM) which will facilitate over 8000 pre-scheduled buyer-seller meetings between Indian suppliers and global buyers looking to forge new sourcing partnerships also commenced.

“The Indian Govt’s free trade agreements and the new Foreign Trade Policy have significantly boosted the MSME sector’s growth. GOI’s incentives and schemes, including those from the MSME Ministry, DoC, etc have further empowered businesses by facilitating exports. These strategic initiatives are propelling the Indian plastics industry towards remarkable growth and global market expansion,” said Sribash Dasmohapatra, Executive Director, Plexconcil.
On June 7, 2024, PLEXCONCIL will honor industry leaders and top export performers at its Annual Awards ceremony that is being held later in the evening and will be graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, Shri. Ramesh Bais, who is presiding the event as Chief Guest. The Hon’ble Governor will present awards in 47 categories such as Export Performance, Innovation and Sustainability, and Women Entrepreneurs, among others.
