PIFA Sports clinch title, SP Academy finish second

Mumbai: PIFA Sports, Mumbai won the WIFA Women’s Football League 2021-2022.

In the concluding league match, PIFA Sports received a walkover as their opponents Amma FC, Nagpur failed to turn up for the match. As a result, PIFA Sports earned three points to finish at the top of the 10-team league with a tally of 25 points (8 wins, 1 draw) and walked away with the top honours.

PIFA Sports has now qualified to participate in the AIFF Indian Women’s Football League 2021-2022.

S.P. Football Academy, Thane finished a close second with 24 points (8 wins, 1 loss) to finish runners-up. Footie First with 19 points was placed third.

The Thane girls comfortably defeated Footie First, Mumbai 3-0 in their final league encounter. Dashing striker Mmehak Lobo scored a brace of goals in the second half after captain Valencia D’Mello had converted a penalty in the second minute of the first-half additional time.

In other final round matches, Pacangan FC, Satara got the better of Kenkre FC by a narrow 4-3 margin, while India Rush SC, Mumbai blanked Next Sports Academy, Palghar 3-0.

For Pacangan FC the goal-scorers were Sharvari Donkar, Bhakti Pawar, Ambika Dange, and Pratiksha Chandane, while Kenkre FC scored through a double strike from Kavya Jaiswal and one from the effort of Iqra Vora.

India Rush scored through Jigmet Chuzen who found the net twice and Stonskit Dolma who struck one to complete the win.

Pacangan FC, Satara 4 (Sharvari Donkar, Bhakti Pawar, Ambika Dange, Pratiksha Chandane) beat Kenkre FC 3 (Kavya Jaiswal 2, Iqra Vora).

S.P. Football Academy, Thane 3 (Mmehak Lobo 2, Valencia D’Mello) beat Footie First, Mumbai 0.

India Rush SC, Mumbai 3 (Jigmet Chuzen 2, Stonskit Dolma) beat Next Sports Academy, Palghar 0.
