Mumbai…June 18, 2022…Olympic athlete Dutee Chand and Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad to flag off the 4th edition of Saquib Rizvi Memorial Cancer Awareness Half Marathon 2022 (SRMCAM 2022) being held on Sunday, 19th June 2022 at the MMRDA ground near BKC. Mumbai-based Rizvi Group’s Help Yourself Foundation – a non-governmental organization working for senior citizens, women, and child welfare – is organising the marathon to be held in different categories of runs, including 21K, 10K, 5K, and 3K in the form of a fun race, as well as a wheelchair race for the specially-abled participants. The SRMCAM 2022 is internationally registered and certified by Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) which is an association of the organisers of long-distance road running races in the United Kingdom.

(Mrs) RUBINA AKHTAR HASAN RIZVI, Founders of Help Yourself Foundation & Rumi Care said, “It’s with great pleasure we are announcing that Ms. Dutee Chand, who is the current National Champion in the women’s 100 metres race and the first Indian to win a gold medal in 100m race in a global competition is the face and ambassador of the 4th Edition of THE SAQUIB RIZVI MEMORIAL CANCER AWARENESS (SRMCAM) – Half Marathon of 2022 taking place under the Umbrella body of Rizvi Group which is renowned in sectors i.e. The Rizvi Builders, The Rizvi Education Society Mumbai, Dr. AKHTAR RIZVI Educational Trust Allahabad & Help Yourself Foundation- A Charitable, Non-profit NGO. We also have the honour of having Hon’ Education Minister of Maharashtra Ms. Varsha Gaikwad doing the flag off for 3 kms run.
There are two components of early detection: early diagnosis and screening. As per WHO (World Health Organization) Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020, or nearly one in six deaths. More than one third of cancer cases can be prevented and another one third can be cured if detected early and treated properly to significantly improve cancer patients’ chances of survival. ‘I CHOOSE HOPE’ is the inspiring advocacy initiative by The Squib Rizvi Memorial Cancer Awareness Half Marathon. Apart from 5000 plus participants, this marathon event will also be attended and witnessed by several active NGOS, Doctors, Diplomats from several Countries, Health Care Professionals, Print & Electronic media, Corporates, Civil Society, communities, Spectators, Politicians and International Guests. Therefore, this Half Marathon event with resource appropriate strategies on Cancer can save millions of lives every year through Cancer Screening Camps, Diagnostics, Treatment Assistance, Research. By challenging – directly, vocally and unwaveringly –stigma and discrimination in all its forms by raising our voices to address cancer as an important health issue.
