Sony Entertainment Television’s latest offering, Yashomati Maiyaa Ke Nandlala, outlines a refreshing narrative of Krishna katha beautifully highlighting the unbreakable bond between a mother and son who are Yashoda (Neha Sargam) and her son Lord Shri Krishna. Weaved from Yashoda’s point of view, it gives viewers a visual treat of her journey and her love for her ‘natkhat Kanha’. In the ongoing track, viewers have been witnessing how Shani Dev has been trying to meet Lord Krishna.
Hearing about the birth of Lord Krishna, various gods came to visit him, Shani Dev being one among them. Yashoda stops Shani Dev at the door, warning him that her child would be frightened at the sight of Lord Shani. Disappointed with the situation, Shani dev heads to the neighbouring forest to pray. Touched by his prayer, Lord Krishna chooses to see his bhakt in the form of a ‘kokila’ . He offers Shani Dev darshan from the bush and from that time on, the jungle is known as Kokila Van.
Excited upon his entry into the show, Ankur essaying the role of Shani says, “Shani Dev as a character has always built a great intrigue within me. No matter how many tales may be spoken about, there are certain facets and characteristics of Shani Dev that remain unexplored and through ‘Yashomati Maiyaa Ke Nandlala’ I get to showcase it on-screen. I think it’s this little curiosity and fascination that made me say yes and take the route of mythology. The role also brings a lot of responsibility for me to impress his followers and make a way into their hearts. Portraying a character that has a great significance in our mythology and spiritual beliefs is an exciting challenge which I look forward to.”
