Impressive MYJ stun Dubai Veterans 3-0

Mumbai, August: MYJ (Mighty Young Joe) Sports Club put an impressive showing and had things much their own way against overseas outfit Dubai Veterans and romped to a convincing 3-0 victory in a Veterans’ League (second phase) Group ‘B’ match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Thursday.

The visiting Dubai team found the going tough and were unable to contain the opponents who dominated the proceedings from the start. Air India stalwart Vijith Shetty scored the opening goal in the 12th minute and went into the break with a 1-0 advantage.

MYJ continued to call the shots on resumption and scored two more goals through Dharmesh Patel and Agnelo Picardo to complete a deserving win.

Earlier, Kerala Veterans, the second outstation team, produced a late fight and managed to force a 1-1 draw with Golden Gunners in Group ‘A’ encounter. Golden Gunners wqere lucky to take the lead as Kerala defender Suneer N. deflected the ball into his own goal. But the spirited Kerala side produced a solid fight back and managed to score the equalizer through Leo’s strike late in the match.

Results – Veterans final league: MYJ Sports Club 3 (Vijith Shetty12, Dharmesh Patel 29, Agnelo Picardo 37) beat Dubai Veterans 0.

Golden Gunners 1 (OG-Suneer N.) drew with Kerala Veterans 1 (Leo M.).
