Central recovery to hold Customs 3-3

Mumbai: Central Railway staged a great recovery to share honours with Mumbai Customs in an exciting 3-3 draw in a league match of the Mumbai Hockey Association Limited (MHAL) organised Mumbai Hockey Championship 2022, at the MHAL Stadium, Churchgate on Thursday.

For Central Joginder Singh scored two goals and Narad Bahadur got one while customs scored through Venkatesh Kenche, Aniket Gurav, and Akshay Dubey.

In a fast-paced encounter, Central took the lead through Narad Bahadur just before the end of the first quarter. Customs came roaring back and scored three goals on the trot to take a 3-1 lead. Venkatesh Kenche converted a short corner in the 19th minute to put Customs on level terms before Aniket Gurav scored from a field goal in the 33rd minute and two minute later Akshay Dubey hit the target from another penalty corner.

The railwaymen scored twice in the final quarter with Joginder first scoring from a penalty corner and later fired home from open play to snatch a satisfying draw.

In Friday’s matches, Central Railway takes on Union Bank of India at 3.00 pm and later Mumbai Customs meet Abhi Foundation at 4.45 pm.

Results: Central Railway 3 (Joginder Singh 2, Narad Bahadur) drew with Mumbai Customs 3 (Venkatesh Kenche, Aniket Gurav, Akshay Dubey).

Friday schedule: Central Railway Vs Union Bank of India, 3.00 pm.

Mumbai Customs Vs Abhi Foundation, 4.45 pm.
