by Suman Gupta

25TH MARCH, 2025 : Lilavati Foundation is set to invest ₹5,000 crore over the next five years in an ambitious expansion plan that will add 3,000 beds across major metropolitan cities in India. This substantial investment will focus on building state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to provide world-class medical care to underserved regions, marking a major step towards bridging the healthcare gap across the country.

The Foundation’s flagship project is the development of a world-class healthcare and research facility at GIFT City, Gujarat, in collaboration with Mayo Clinic USA. Expected to be operational by the end of 2025, this ultra-modern facility will serve as a beacon of integrated medical care and innovation, with a particular focus on cutting-edge research and specialized treatments.

In addition to the Gujarat project, the Lilavati Foundation is excited to announce the establishment of a 250-300 bed super-specialty hospital in Guwahati, Assam. With an investment of ₹300-350 crore, this state-of-the-art facility will focus on critical specialties such as oncology and cardiology, positioning Guwahati as a premier healthcare destination for the Northeast region, including neighboring countries like Bhutan and Bangladesh. This project was announced in collaboration with the Government of Assam at the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, where an MoU was signed with the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

In addition to these two major projects, Lilavati Foundation is pursuing other significant developments across India, including multi-specialty hospitals and medical colleges in Goa, Delhi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. The foundation is in discussions with respective state governments to bring these state-of-the-art facilities to life, further enhancing the reach and quality of healthcare services across the country.

Prashant Mehta, Founder & Chairperson of Lilavati Foundation, said, “I am deeply committed to carrying forward my mother Charu Kishore Mehta’s legacy of SEWA, a cornerstone of the Lilavati Foundation’s mission to provide selfless service to the community. In honor of her vision, we will continue to offer 10% of our beds free of charge, with an additional 10% available at a 50% subsidy across all our hospitals. This initiative, driven by SEWA, ensures that high-quality healthcare remains accessible to the underprivileged and those in need.”

The investment and expansion plans will be supported through a combination of debt equity, and donations, ensuring a well-balanced approach to funding. This strategy will enable the Lilavati Foundation to continue providing exceptional healthcare services nationwide, strengthening the healthcare infrastructure and improving patient outcomes.
