by Suman Gupta

Mumbai, May 30: Income Tax played with plenty of grit and gumption as they recovered from a goal down and fought well to overcome Western Railway 3-1 in a well-contested Elite (Corporate) Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Tuesday.

Western Railway stunned the Income Tax goals when striker Reuben D’Souza scored from a snap effort in the 30th minute and they managed to hold on to that advantage at the end of the first session.

However, on resumption Income Tax were a transformed lot and they started to assert themselves and took the fight to the Western Railway camp. Their hard-work immediately bore fruits as Craig found the back of the Western net in the fourth minute of the second period. Four minutes later Sandesh Gadkari hit the target to put Income Tax in the lead and then D’Souza was once again in the thick of the action, scoring the team’s third goal to complete the win.
