Mumbai Customs strike late to blank Central Railway 3-0

Mumbai, May 30: Producing another impressive performance Mumbai Customs and struck form in the final quarter and sent Central Railway crashing to a 3-0 defeat in a Super Division match of the Mumbai Hockey League 2022-2023, jointly organized by Hockey Mumbai City and Hockey Mumbai Suburbs, and played at the Don Bosco High School Hockey Turf, Matunga on Tuesday evening.

Both Mumbai Customs and Central Railway were engaged in a keen tussle for supremacy and the exchanges were evenly shared but neither team was able to score a goal in the first three quarters as the scoreboard remained blank.

However, Central Railway seemed to have run out of steam in the fourth quarter and conceded three goals in open play and finished on a losing note.

Mumbai Customs’ enterprising midfielder Iktidar Ishrat showed his goal-scoring prowess with two quick strikes in as many minutes. After Venkatesh Kenche opened the scoring in the 50th minute, Ishrat scored his first and the team’s second goal in the 55th minute and two minutes later hammered home Customs third goal to seal the win.

Result: Mumbai Customs 3 (Iktidat Ishrat 2, Venkatesh Kenche) beat Central Railway 0.
