Porto in Northern Portugal Hosts The EU-India Leader’s Hybrid Meeting this 8th May, at Palacio de Cristal (participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Ndia by video conference).

Claudia Matias, Director for VisitPortugal in India says: “Portugal expresses its solidarity and a message of hope and strength to all Indains in this challenging times in their fight against the pandemic. We are sending across our deepest fast recovery wishes to India, by illuminating with India tricolour flag an iconic landmark in Porto”.

Paços do Concelho, is situated at the heart of downtown, with a 70m high tower with a carillon clock, and will be illuminated with Indian tricolor flag from 8th may until 9th may AM GMT.

Porto World Heritage City

Porto a World Heritage City is well known for an intense cultural life, imposing monuments such as the iconic Luís I bridge, the Cathedral and the spectacular baroque church of São Francisco. The city holds treasures, such as one of the most beautiful and oldest bookshop in the world, Lello, which was an inspiration to  J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter books. The city offers beaches facing the Atlantic ocean and beautiful parks. Well known for rich original cuisine, Porto seems to be constantly reinventing itself with new tourist attractions like WOW- World of Wine, an entire district full of new and exciting things to do, explore, and learn. Six museum experiences, nine restaurants, shops, exhibitions, and a wine school. Porto charms is elevated by river Douro and  its banks which further upstream form a unique landscape, also classified UNESCO World Heritage, where the renowned Port and Douro wines are produced. The Douro Valley with unique and world class hospitality offers amazing experiences to its visitors. Porto was awarded as Europe’s Leading City Break Destination in 2020.
