Social media has been abuzz since Dia released the first glimpses of Kaafir. Her role has created much speculation. The feedback received on the poster reveal, the teaser and the trailer have been overwhelming.
Dia’s helplessness, fear, anguish and the love for her daughter shines through in the trailer, and she effortlessly showcases all this solely through her eyes.
Dia got under the skin of her character Kainaaz and wanted to understand how it truly felt to lose freedom. She worked with Acting Workshop Director – Atul Mongia which helped her layer the many emotions required to play this role.
“Kaafir is a powerful human story inspired by a true one. I was deeply moved by it. The theme of the show resonates with me at a personal level. I chose to tell this story on a digital medium like ZEE5 for the reach it deserves”, says Dia.
Kaafir portrays the journey of a mother, a young Pakistani woman who is unable to go back home. Amidst all despair, she finds hope when a lawyer, played by Mohit Raina, makes it his mission to help her.
Written by Bhavani Iyer, directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Siddharth Malhotra, Kaafir premieres on ZEE5 on 15th June.
