National, June 20, 2022: In its continued efforts to empower and provide children from underprivileged backgrounds with an equal opportunity to learn, the BYJU’S ‘Education for All’ initiative has announced a  three-year partnership with Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM) to positively impact 1.5 lakh children from underserved communities across the country by 2023.

Backed by a shared vision of empowering children with quality education, BYJU’S Education For All and RILM will work towards providing tech-driven digital learning tools to students in classes 4 to 12 across the country by giving them free access to BYJU’S high-quality learning programs and engaging content. As the first step in this nationwide initiative, BYJU’S has already issued 100 tablets and licenses to students from lesser served communities in Hyderabad. The initiative will soon spread its wings across the rest of the country in a phased manner.

Speaking on the partnership, Mansi Kasliwal, VP- Social Initiatives, BYJU’S, said, “At BYJU’S, we believe that every child deserves the right to quality education. By joining hands with Rotary India Literacy Mission, we are working towards a common goal to bridge the digital gap in education and make learning accessible to all through high-quality content and tech-driven learning programs. We are happy to associate with a like-minded partner, and hope that this collaboration positively impacts millions more.”

Kamal Sanghvi, Chairman -Rotary India Literacy Mission said “Over the years, we are guided by our mission to achieve total literacy in India, and we are known nationally for our E-Siksha program, wherein we have supported over 15,000+ government schools with e-learning systems, and during the pandemic, we were the largest private-sector contributor to NCERT’s PM eVidya TV Program Channels with e-content for all subjects in classes 1-10 in English & Hindi medium.  We’re glad to have partnered with BYJU’S, the pioneer of India’s edtech ecosystem, in further supporting this goal. We look forward to working with BYJU’S to ensure that every child, irrespective of socioeconomic condition or circumstances, doesn’t have to compromise their right to education. With this partnership, we are hopeful to meet our target of empowering over 1.5 lakh students by 2023 by providing them with digital learning tools packed with BYJU’S high-quality learning programs.”

The Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM), formerly known as Rotary South Asia Society for Development and Cooperation (RSAS), aims to work towards Total literacy and Quality Education in India. To achieve this, RILM has designed a comprehensive program called ‘T-E-A-C-H’, where T – Teacher Support, E – E-Learning, A – Adult Literacy, C – Child Development, H – Happy School,

wherein each program is interlinked with the other and has a specific focus of working towards achieving the common goal of bringing total literacy and improving learning outcomes of school education across the country.

This partnership is another significant step in furthering BYJU’S flagship social impact initiative ‘Education for All’. Launched in 2020, the initiative aims at bringing about a positive systemic change to the education ecosystem. With a mission to empower 10 million underprivileged children by 2025, the initiative has already impacted 3.4 million children in the remotest corners of the country through 120+ NGOs across 26+ states and 340+ districts.

BYJU’S Education For All

With an aim to make digital learning accessible to millions of children from underserved communities, BYJU’S, the world’s leading edtech company, launched its social impact initiative – Education for All in late 2020. The program aims at democratising education by ensuring that children across all economic backgrounds get equal access to quality learning opportunities. The “Education for All” initiative serves to enable students from underserved and economically deprived communities with a better chance at upward social and economic mobility. This initiative aims at bridging the educational and digital divide by making quality learning accessible to the children in need. With over 100+ partners like American India Foundation, United Way, Right to Live, Magic Bus, SOS, Save the Children, CRY and more across 26 states in India, the program has created a positive impact and reached over 35 lakh students in the last 1 year across the country. BYJU’S has also partnered with NITI Aayog to provide free access to its tech-driven learning programs for children from 112 “aspirational districts” of the country. The company aims to accelerate its impact in reaching children who have no access to learning both on its own and through partnerships. For more information:https://byjus.com/educationforall/

Rotary India Literacy Mission

The Rotary T-E-A-C-H initiative is currently being implemented by the Rotary India Literacy Mission since 2013. This has been possible through the strong partnerships with the government, corporates, national/state specific non-governmental organisations, as well as international organisations. RILM’s e-learning program called E-Shiksha improves the teaching & learning experiences in government and government-aided schools. Through this programme, RILM installed an LCD projector, LED TV or a Smart LED TV loaded with the educational software linked to the State Board curriculum in local languages. RILM has successfully installed its e-learning system in about 15,000+ government and government-aided schools across the country through the Rotary Clubs, CSR and PSU support. During the Pandemic, RILM had a tie up with NCERT and the Ministry of Education. While most of the rural households did not have access to mobiles, many had access to a television. So the government launched 12 national learning channels for the students, one for each class, called PM eVidya Program, and RILM was its biggest contributor from the private / NGO sector, RILM provided for Free, multimedia animation content for all classes from 1-10, for all the subjects in English & Hindi medium, its e-content duly approved by the NCERT.
