Mumbai, December, 2023: BNP Paribas, successfully culminated their annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative – Daan Utsav 2023. This year, BNP Paribas employees volunteered to contribute over 32,000 kilograms of dal, rice, and atta, positively impacting economically weaker sections of society and ensuring a brighter festive season for them. The activity was conducted in three different parts of the country – Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore.

Hunger has always been one of the biggest concerns in India. According to the Global Hunger Index 2023, India is on rank 111 out of 125 countries, with little improvement in the recent times.

It is a disconcerting situation which needs immediate attention and hence, initiatives like Daan Utsav mark a positive stride in India’s fight against hunger.

As a part this initiative, this year BNP Paribas has partnered with NGOs like Aseema (Maharashtra) Adhar (Maharashtra) BJ homes (Maharashtra) Prema Vasam (Chennai) Robinhood Army, Samarthanam (Karnataka) and Udhavum Ullangal (Tamil Nadu), to ensure efficient distribution and utilisation of the donated food items. These organisations, with their expertise in community outreach, play a pivotal role in catering to the nutritional needs of children and adults from marginalised backgrounds.

Over 12900 kilos of rice, over 13600 kilos of atta and more than 5300 kilos of dal were distributed as part of the initiative. Notably, BNP Paribas employees actively participated on the ground too, facilitating the efficient distribution of the collected food grains.

Appreciating the participation of the employees and expressing gratitude to the NGO partners, Ms. Manisha Khosla Sinha – Head of CSR, Brand and Communications, BNP Paribas said, “As we conclude another successful edition of Daan Utsav, we extend sincere gratitude to our employees whose unwavering commitment and active participation has made this initiative impactful. Their generosity has not only brightened the festive season but has also reinforced our collective responsibility towards community welfare.”

“Additionally, we extend our gratitude to our esteemed NGO partners whose collaboration has been instrumental in ensuring the effective distribution and utilisation of the donated food items. Together, we strive to create a positive and lasting impact, embodying the true spirit of corporate social responsibility,” she added.

BNP Paribas exemplifies its commitment to social responsibility by leveraging resources to create a lasting impact on the lives of those in need, demonstrating a dedication to making a tangible difference in the communities it serves.
