Arthanomics 2020 goes online – Jai Hind College Students Create through the Chaos

by Suman Gupta

In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, colleges across the country are attempting to keep their students involved and constructively engaged. Jai Hind College (Autonomous) is striving to encourage creativity and resilience among its students and its Annual Economics Festival, Arthanomics 2020 has risen to this challenge by going completely online, making it India’s First Online Business and Economics Fest. Arthanomics is India’s largest academic festival, with students from across the world coming together to participate in intellectually stimulating events crafted to enhance the learning of students in a fun and competitive environment.

In keeping with this year’s theme, ‘Creation In Chaos’, the student committee of Arthanomics is pushing through these challenges and working tirelessly to keep students actively involved during the lockdown. The Principal, Dr. Ashok Wadia has been a pillar of strength for the students during this momentous transition, always providing guidance and the motivation to innovate. Arthanomics kicked off its working season by collaborating with Indus Action, an esteemed policy implementation organisation, on their COVID-19 Rapid Response Campaign. Making a huge social impact by helping the poor during these tough times, the volunteers reached out to nearly 3500 families and helped in the last mile delivery of food and medicines in Madhya Pradesh. Arthanomics has created a positive presence on social media, with helpful and inspiring stories reaching a vast audience. It has also hosted a number of interactive webinars conducted by various professionals to secure the professional development and personal well-being of students.

The theme, ‘Creation In Chaos’, talks about the challenges that the world has faced over the centuries and prompts the students to come up with new and innovative solutions to tackle contemporary issues with creativity. The much awaited fest, taking place on the 14th, 15th and 16th of August 2020 offers something for everybody – with events ranging from Trading, to Policy, Entrepreneurship, Journalism and Marketing, making the fest an enriching, holistic experience. The entire student body, with overhauling support from the institution, has come together during these challenging times to create something innovative and positive, even amidst chaos and uncertainty.
