Approval to create posts for Government Medical College and Hospital at Nandurbar

Mumbai: The first year course in Government Medical College at Nandurbar is starting from this year. Owing this the work of Government Medical Hospital should be expedited. Apart from this, approval has been given to create posts in class 1 to class 4 for government medical college and hospital at Nandurbar, said Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh.

Meeting regarding Government Medical College at Nandurbar was organized today in the presence of Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh and Tribal Development Minister Adv. K.C Padvi at the Ministry today. Relevant officials of the Department of Medical Education and Tribal Development Department were present on the occasion.

Medical Education Minister Shri. Deshmukh said, the National Medical Commission has given approval to start a college with a capacity of 100 students and a 500-bed hospital. Permission was granted on 21st of January, 2012 to set up a Government Medical College at Nandurbar. 60 per cent (195 crore) from the Center and 40 per cent (130 crore) from the state government funding has been approved for the same. Along with this, approval has been given to create posts in class 1 to class 4 for government medical college and hospital at Nandurbar.

Tribal Development Minister Adv. K. C Padvi said that the admission process of Nandurbar Medical College, which is ambitious for Nandurbar district, has started. Nandurbar Government Medical College and Hospital will be set up on 41.09 acres of land, owing this work related to the hospital should be expedited along with the work of the college.
