“I will fight till each one of you have your rights”,says Dia Mirza, Actress and Save the Children Artist Ambassador on International Street Children’s Day

Mumbai, 12th April 2019:They are visible and yet remain invisible. Children who make homes out of streets continue to remain ignored and marginalised in the country.  Dia Mirza, Actress and Save the Children Artist Ambassador has been campaigning with Save the Children for the identity of 2 million children who live in the street situation. Dia Mirza is determined to change that on International Streets Children’s day, Dia Mirza promises to fight for each of their dreams and has a message for all the special kids.

Dia Mirza, says, “I will fight till each one of you have your rights. I think the world needs to wake up to how incredible each one of you is and to how much talent you have. You can shine if given the opportunity. With Save The Children, we are going to make sure you have the right to education, the right to health care and the right to opportunity. I promise to make each one of the invisible, visible”

This year street-connected children have a lot more to celebrate. Next month ahead of the International Cricket Council World Cup, the first Cricket World Cup for street-connected children will take place. The Street Child Cricket World Cup in London (SCCWC) aims to unite people from various nations through the powerful tool of sports and spotlight the life of #TheInvisibles (street connected children).

The tournament that will bring together 9 countries and 10 teams, these include two teams from India (Team India North, Team India South), England, Tanzania, Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka, DRC, Nepal and Mauritius.

Kids are being selected and trained in Kolkata where Save The Children run one of the largest interventions called #TheInvisiblesVisible focusing on providing identity to children and improving lives of children who live in slums, or on the streets and look at them as a source of livelihood.
