8th April 2019,Mumbai: As a part of Swacha Bharat Abhiyaan, Dr.Bharati Lavekar, MLA, versova beat took an initiative of cleaning up the famous Lokhanwala lake near Back-road. Through the initiative, Dr.Lavekar focus was to beautify the lake and also, Protect Mangroves though Chain Link Fencing.
The residents of Lokhandwala will now be able to enjoy the lake premises for various sessions like Yoga, Jogging and have a relax time with the cleaning drive.
The Mangrove fencing chain will help in saving the environment and also they are home to a large variety of fish, crab, shrimp, and mollusk species. These fisheries form an essential source of food for thousands of coastal communities.
Initiative of Swacha Bharat Abhiyan, has brought a huge difference in the society to change the approach of every citizen towards the hygiene process. Dr.Lavekar is taking the initiative to another level for helping the city to be green and clean.
