Mumbai, June 23: Century Rayon scored two quick first half goals to hand Mumbai Customs a 2-0 defeat in an Elite Division match of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Friday evening.
Strikers Shubham K. scored the opening goal in the 30th minute and eight minutes later Naresh Maibham scored the second goal to double Century Rayon’s lead and seal Mumbai Customs’ fate.
Earlier, in a Women’s Super Division encounter, Rising Sun FA got the better of Oscar Foundation in a scrappy affair. For Rising Sun FA striker Niti Ladha scored two goals and Bindya Verma struck one while Oscar Foundation pulled one back through Aarti Sanu’s efforts.
In a closely contested Third Division match, Sundernagar FC got the better of West Mumbai FC by a narrow 1-0 margin. The lone goal of the match was scored by Stephen Thambi.
Results – Women’s Super Div: Rising Sun FA 3 (Niti Ladha 2, Bindya Verma) beat Oscar Foundation 1 (Aarti Sanu).
Third Div: Sundernagar FC 1 (Stephen Thambi) beat West Mumbai FC 0.
Elite Div: Century Rayon 2 (Shubham K., Naresh Maibham) beat Mumbai Customs 0.
