CTC, Coorg XI move into semi-finals

Mumbai, June 9: Mumbai Super League champions CTC (Champions Training Centre) underlined their supremacy as they stormed past Hockey Anstrengung by a comfortable 6-3 margin in a quarter-final match of the St. Peter’s Youth Centre organized St. Peter’s Hockey Championship 2023 and played at the St. Stanislaus HS Astro Park, Bandra on Friday afternoon.

Olympian Devindar Walmiki led CTC’s charge by scoring two goals. His teammates Raj Patil and Tejas S. also chipped in with two goals each to seal the win. Hockey Anstrengung scored through Girish P. who struck a brace of goals and Abhijit K. got one.

Meanwhile, the visiting Coorg XI outfit got the better of Union Bank of India by a fighting 3-2 margin to advance to the semi-finals. Chiran Medappa scored two goals and Majji Ganesh got one in Coorg XI’s win while Union Bank of India scored both their goals through Nachappa M’s efforts.

In another match, Mumbai Customs had to fight hard for their 2-1 win against a spirited Republicans Sports Club. Mumbai Customs’ enterprising attacking midfielder Ikidar Ishrat scored both the goals to seal the win while Stephen M. scored for Republicans SC.

Results (quarter-finals): Coorg XI 3 (Chiran Medappa 2, Majji Ganesh) beat Union Bank of India 2 (Nachappa M).

Mumbai Customs 2 (Iktidar Ishrat 2) beat Republicans SC 1 (Stephen M).

CTC 6 (Raj Patil 2, Devindar Walmiki 2, Tejas S. 2) beat Hockey Anstrengung 3 (Girish P. 2, Abhijit K.).
