Taneira Launches Cyanotype- a contemporary kurta collection

An ode to a vintage photography process

Taneira presents CYANOTYPE, a signature capsule collection of unique, ready-to-wear contemporary kurtas for the stylish Indian woman.

Inspired by the nostalgia of pressing leaves and flowers as a childhood memory, Cyanotype brings alive the spirit of those reminiscences and preserves it, in wearable form.

A vintage technique of printing photographs, Cyanotype involves dipping a natural fabric in a mixture of two light-sensitive compounds. The design elements are a distinctive selection of flora and foliage including leaves, twigs, flowers, and vines. The entire composition of botanicals is created on a table and then placed on the fabric. The fabric’s exposure to light leads to a reaction with the photosensitive solution and gives the collection its characteristic cyan-blue color.

A mélange of dyed panels in diverse shades of blue along with the cyanotype print comes together with a delicate embellishment of hand-embroidered thread work and sequins in contrasting hues, to create an ensemble that adds flair to an important meeting or a brunch with friends.

Every kurta in the line is a labor of love involving 8 artisans. With Cyanotype, Taneira furthers its endeavor to strengthen the handicrafts community in the country by giving them a new art form to practice and conserve.

Each of the seven chic styles in the collection uses a multi-disciplinary approach on garments through mixed media. Cyanotype boasts a tasteful combination of modern, effortless silhouettes and multi-functional outfits with pocket detailing and belts, some of which can even be styled as a dress, taking you from nine to dine within seconds.

Priced between INR 4990 and INR 6990, Cyanotype is available across all Taneira stores in the country.
