Mumbai, September 07, 2022: Bank of India, one of the largest Public Sector Banks in India, celebrated its 117th Foundation Day on 7th Sept, 2022. Bank of India completed its 116 years of glorious journey and dedicates all its success to its customers, stakeholders, patrons & well-wishers for being with the Bank throughout its endeavours. Bank of India has a presence across the nation with a total of 5105 branches as of June 30, 2022 and the bank also has 25 overseas branches.
This important day is celebrated across the Bank and its establishments with a series of events. The function was inaugurated by the BOI’s MD & CEO, Mr A K Das in presence of all EDs Shri P R Rajagopal, Shri Swarup Dasgupta, Shri M Karthikeyan and Ms Monika Kalia and all staff members at Head Office, BKC, Mumbai.
Over the decades, the Bank has been at the forefront of bringing various products & services to its customers by adopting a policy of perseverance, prudence and caution. Today the bank is making an important contribution towards making the country completely self-reliant by serving to all segments of population be it Retail, Agri & MSMEs.
On this important day, Bank unveiled its various digital initiatives with an intent to make available most of its products & services through digital mode. Bank under its Go Digital initiative launched, BOI e-Trade – a fully Digital Platform for seamless Trade Finance & Supply Chain Finance, BOI e-Gold for making gold loan available digitally, BOI Biz Pay – a fully safe, secure & fast merchant app for all payment & transaction needs. Bank also came out with digital mode of Saving Account opening naming it as e-Bachat and also unveiled its e Mudra for digital end to end journey for availing Mudra Loan (Shishu) under MSMEs.
Bank of India took various initiatives under its CSR activities which includes providing financial assistance for distribution of Study Kits to Students (who have lost their parents in Covid-19) through Women and Child Development Dept. Govt of Maharashtra. In another CSR activity, Bank provided financial assistance for procurement of Computers, Books, New & advanced toys for intellectually challenged students through Punarvas Education Society, Mumbai. BOI staff members also participated in “Local Community Service/Social activity” in the areas of CSR activities viz. cleanliness initiative, tree plantation/afforestation, teaching/coaching of poor students, any developmental activity for poor & needy and/or awareness campaign for water conservation/environment protection etc. Bank also took nationwide CSR activities by assisting over 8,700 girls’ education under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan.
As a mark of respect and to commemorate this special occasion, Bank felicitated its Staff Officer-World Boxing Champion – Nikhat Zareen on winning Gold Medal for the nation in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games. Bank also felicitated founder of Lijjat Papad Mahila Grih Udyog- Smt Jaswantiben Popat for her outstanding contribution towards empowering more than 45000 women to earn respectable livelihood and making them self-reliant. BOI Staff & Indian Classical Vocalist – Pandit Suresh Bapat Ji was also felicitated for his contribution in the field of music.
The Bank has also received various Awards and Accolades for their immense contribution in the field of Banking and towards the betterment of the society. Some of which are- Bank of India was awarded as one among the top 3 best performing bank in implementing the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund Scheme (AIF), which is one of the Flagship Schemes of Ministry of Agriculture And Farmers Welfare Department, Govt. of India. Bank of India was awarded as runner up under Finacle Innovation Awards 2021 by Infosys among the large bank segment under the Covid response innovation category. Bank of India Has Been Awarded “Dr. Ambedkar Business Excellence Award” for lending to SC Entrepreneurs awarded by IFCI Venture Capital Ltd. Forbes Media, in cooperation with the Independent Market Research Company Statista Inc., recognised and awarded Bank of India as one of the World’s Best Employers-2021 and many more.
The Bank has been expanding its horizons and venturing into new areas in order to provide better services and facilities to its customers. The Bank continues to strive towards the betterment and upliftment of the society at large. It stands true on its tagline ‘Relationship beyond Banking’ and continues to be the People’s Bank.
