Mumbai: Ramesh Singh was the star performer on the opening day as he scored a fine hat-trick to power Maryland Football Club to a comfortable 3-0 win against I.C. Sporting Club in a Group-A match of 5th Borivali Premier Football League (BPFL) – 2022, conducted under the aegis of MFA, and played at the St. Francis D’Assisi HS ground, Borivali. The BPFL is being supported by MOC (Mumbai Oncology Care) and PCPL (Pranav Constructions Private Limited).
The dashing striker Ramesh opened the scoring in the 35th minute to give Maryland a slender 1-0 half-time lead. In the second half, Ramesh scored two more goals in the 59th and 64th minute to complete Maryland’s handsome win.
Earlier, Nine Star Football Club got the better of Wellington Football Club by a narrow 1-0 margin. Striker Raul Almeida netted the lone goal in the 33rd minute to seal Nine Stars victory and collect the full three points.
In the third match of the day, defending champions Fleetfooters Football Club made a bright positive start defeating Vibrants Football Club by a clear 2-0 margin. Fleetfooters scored once in each half through Ashley Koli in the third minute and Grenville Murzello who converted a penalty in the 51st to secure the win.
