Mulund Gym, MCF ‘A’ emerge champions

Mumbai: Mulund Gymkhana and Mandpeshwar Civic Federation (MCF) ‘A’ emerged champions winning the women Division-I and Division-II titles respectively in The Suburban Table Tennis Association (TSTTA) organised Annual Inter-Club Table Tennis League 2022, and played at the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana (JVPG) Club. The Inter-Club TT League is being sponsored by D.M. Tutorials, Precise and Sanwei.

Mulund Gymkhana team comprising of experienced players Manasi Chiplunkar, Shreya Deshpande, Mrunmayee Mhatre-Mishra, and Shalmali Mhatre topped the league with 4 points, while top with four points, Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul (PTKS) ‘A’ with three points finished runners-up.

In the Division-II finals, MCF proved too strong for Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul (PTKS) storming to a facile 3-0 victory. In the opening rubber, Amruta Phadke encountered a strong challenge from Urvi Churi before managing to pull through in five engrossing games at 7-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-7, and 13-11. In contrast Pranjal Shinde had a much easier time against Ananya Rai romping to a straight games 12-10, 11-6, and 16-14 win to put MCF 2-0 in the lead. Later, Amruta and Pranjal combined perfectly to overcome the PTKS combination of Urvi & Saachi Mandhya posting an 11-9, 11-8, and 11-6 win in the doubles tie and to clinch the top honours.

Results: Women Div-II (Final): Mandpeshwar Civic Federation (MCF) ‘A’ beat Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul (PTKS) ‘B’ 3-0 (Amruta Phadke bt Urvi Churi 7-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-7, 13-11; Pranjal Shinde bt Ananya Rai 12-10, 11-6, 16-14; Amruta Phadke & Pranjal Shinde bt Urvi Churi & Saachi Mandhya 11-9, 11-8, 11-6).

Women Div-I (round-robin league): 1. Mulund Gymkhana (4 points), 2. Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul (PTKS) ‘A’ (3 points), 3. Andheri YMCA (2 points).
