Tanish ton powers Sainath to big win

Mumbai: Tanish Meher’s superb unbeaten 118 runs (113-balls, 15x4s) and the combined efforts of bowlers Durvesh Pitle (3 for 12) and Adarsh Singh (3 for 9) helped Sainath SC record a 171 runs victory over Dr. D.Y. Patil SA in a second round Group-B match of the 2nd LNCC OMNI Global Invitational Under-22 Invitation Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, organised by Lord Northbrook CC under the aegis of Mumbai Cricket Association, and played at the Karnatak SA ground, Cross Maidan.

Sainath SC batting first piled up a huge 243 runs for 5 wickets in 40 overs. Rahul Nandgaonkar scored 47 runs to prop the innings. Later, Durvesh and Adarsh picked up crucial wickets to dismiss D.Y. Patil for just 72 runs in 20.3 overs to complete the win. Tanish was named ‘Player of the Match’.

In a Group-D match, Goregaon SC romped to a 7-wicket win against Lord Northbrook CC at the Goregaon SC ground. The highlight of Goregaon’s win was Mannan Bhat who claimed 3 wickets for 24 runs as Lord Northbrook were restricted to 172 for 8 wickets in 40 overs. In reply, Goregaon easily scored 173 for 3 wickets in 31.4 overs with Mannan being the leading scorer making 49 runs, while Jash Gangia 43 runs and Aryan Patni scoring 39 to steer the team home. Mannan was declared ‘Player of the Match’.

In a Group-A encounter, Shivaji Park Gymkhana handed Fort Vijay CC a 70-run defeat at the Sunder CC ground, Cross Maidan. Shivaji Park Gymkhana riding on the batting efforts of Sahil Gode 104 runs and Pratik Shukla 63 runs finished their innings at a healthy 245 for 8 wickets in 37 overs. Fort Vijay bowlers Akhilesh Shimpi 4 for 49 and Naufil Rozan 3 for 43 got the wickets. In response, Fort Vijay could only score 175 runs for 9 wickets in 37 overs. Sahil Jadhav scored 43 runs while Nilay Pawar picked 4 wickets for 34 runs to secure Shivaji Park’s win.

Brief scores – Group-A: Shivaji Park Gymkhana 245 for 8 wickets, 37 overs (Sahil Gode 104, Pratik Shukla 63; Akhilesh Shimpi 4/49, Naufil Rozan 3/43) beat Fort Vijay CC 175 for 9 wickets, 37 overs (Sahil Jadhav 43; Nilay Pawar 4/34). Result: Shivaji Park Gymkhana won by 70 runs.

Group-B: OMNI Global SM 225 for 6 wickets, 40 overs (Rahul Maharana 61 not out, Meer Rizvi 50, Soham Rane 42; Sahil Pandey 3/36) beat Mumbai Police Gymkhana 208 for 8 wicket, 40 overs (Shreeom Sanap 37, Aaryaraj Nikam 33; Meer Rizvi 3/39). Result: OMNI won by 17 runs.

Group-B: Sainath SC 243 for 5 wickets, 40 overs (Rahul Nandgaonkar 47, Tanish Meher 118 not out (113 balls, 15x4s) beat Dr. D.Y. Patil SA 72 all out, 20.3 overs (Durvesh Pitle 3/12, Adarsh Singh 3/9). Result: Sainath SC won by 171 runs.

Group-C: Karnataka SA 190 all out, 40 overs (Shubham Chhag 64; Darshan Tiwari 3/45) lost to Bombay Gymkhana 191 for 5 wickets, 38.4 overs (Arya Satpute 91 not out, Yash Salunkhe 32; Parth Mistry 4/33). Result: Bombay Gymkhana won by 5 wickets.

Group-D: Lord Northbrook CC 172 for 8 wickets, 40 overs (Parsshad Bodke 38, Aadit Degaonkar 32, Ganesh Bhati 30; Mannan Bhat 3/24) lost to Goregaon SC 173 for 3 wickets, 31.4 overs (Mannan Bhat 49, Jash Gangia 43, Aryan Patni 39). Result: Goregaon SC won by 7 wickets.

Group-D: New Hind SC 223 for 7 wickets, 40 overs (Viraj Jadhav 38, Arya Chaukidar 66 not out) beat M.V. Sports Club 141 all out, 28.4 overs (Omkar Ghule 52; Yash Dubey 4/48, Viraj Jadhav 3/17). Result: New Hind won by 82 runs.

Group-E: Wellington SC 231 for 7 wicket, 40 overs (Aditya Pande 72, Mukund Sardar 51 not out, Shantanu Kadam 44; Aayush Vartak 2/17) beat National CC  229 for 8 wickets, 40 overs (Tasyam Chavan 50, Vaishnav Narvekar 42, Vedant Murkar 40; Farooque Charolia 2/39). Result: Wellington SC won by 2 runs.
