HPCL honors the Spirit of First Lady Tank Truck Driver

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), A Maharatna Company, salutes the spirit of Women Power by felicitating Ms. Delisha Davis, the first woman POL Tanker driver of HPCL.

On the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day, HPCL Irumpanam Terminal Organised a special event to felicitate Ms. Delisha Davis, a 24 year old Lady Tank Truck Driver, on her brave endeavor to venture into a tough zone of work like Petroleum Tank Truck driving. ED-SOD, Shri. Subodh Batra & CGM- Retail South Zone, Shri Sandeep Maheshwari,  attended the function virtually. General Manager-O&D, SZ Shri R Narayana Rao and Irumpanam Terminal In-Charge Shri. Navin Kumar handed over a Honda Activa to Ms. Delisha on behalf of HPCL as a token of appreciation.

Ms. Delisha has completed her Post-Graduation in Commerce. Delisha took up the challenge of helping her family and aged father, Mr. Davis apart from her passion for driving. She volunteered to learn tanker driving, motivated from her father who is also a heavy vehicle driver. She received HVD license in 2018 and certificate in hazardous goods transportation in 2019.  During lockdown in 2020, she braved all odds and started driving the tanker at HPCL Irumpanam Terminal.

Ms. Delisha told that HPCL is imparting regular safety training on subjects related to handling of petroleum products. Delisha told that she is not facing any difficulty at workplace and the company is providing all required facilities for women to work safely. “I am thankful to HPCL   for recognizing me on the occasion of Independence Day and extremely delighted that HPCL has awarded me with a Honda Activa which will be very helpful for personal needs and further development”, said Delisha.
