Mumbai, April: Mumbai’s well-known rally-driver Khyati Mody continues to go where no female racer has gone before.
After creating many firsts and winning multiple podiums, including internationally, Khyati will become the first and only female participant in the newly added SUV Class in the upcoming Indian National Rally Championship (INRC).
“I am very excited about the new season as I am going to take part in a new class,” she said. “In my first foray into the INRC last year, I managed to finish second even though I couldn’t participate in the final round as I had tested positive for Covid,” she added.
This year too, she is aware of the risks involved, with India currently in the grip of a second wave. “There are a lot of worries but I am all geared up for it and I do hope I can compete in each round this year,” she said.
Incidentally, she will be travelling from Dubai, where she is currently based, for each of the rounds.
Khyati will be taking part in a Vitara, the same model with which she had become the sole female driver to complete the gruelling Desert Storm I 2019.
“My car is getting prepared in Delhi by Sparky’s Garage, with support from Inatur and Global Fuels, and I am confident of a good show,” she said.
The first round of the INRC takes place from April 23 to 25 near Chennai.
