Grundfos India collaborates with MCCI to host a two-day conference

National, November 8, 2019: Recently, Chennai witnessed one of its worst water crises due to failed monsoons, rapidly depleting groundwater and insufficient water in its reservoirs. The city officials also declared that Chennai had reached ‘Day Zero’. To ensure that this situation does not repeat and to deliberate on possible solutions to make the city water positive, the Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) is hosting the 3rd Urban Thinkers Campus by the UN-Habitat on 8th – 9th November in Chennai. Given Grundfos India’s strong alignment to the United Nation’s Sustainability Development Goal (SDG) 6 that focuses on water, the company is supporting this two-day interactive conference ‘Making Chennai Water Positive’, as a gold sponsor.

Through this conference that will bring together key industry experts to discuss about water demand, water supply improvements, wastewater treatment and reuse, and water positivity, Grundfos India hopes a roadmap is created that Chennai can use to become water positive.

Commenting about this conference, Ranganath N.K, Area Managing Director, INDO Region, Grundfos said, “Earlier this year, we witnessed firsthand how Chennai’s water sources run dry. What is required is a holistic and sustainable approach to managing water and wastewater in the city. A circular economy approach needs to be taken when dealing with water – from conservation, recycling, reuse and recharge. Efficient technologies and solutions need to be combined with careful planning, management and execution. Through all these measures, Chennai can become water positive if all concerned stakeholders also collaborate and work together.”

Across the world, Grundfos works to make cities water positive through its optimized water solutions for water utility applications, water treatment solutions for each stage of the entire water treatment cycle, and water supply solutions.
