by Suman Gupta

MUMBAI October, 2019: Mumbai Marines were up to a fantastic start in its first MDFA Second Division game against Jolly Boys. Marines proved too strong for the Jolly Boys as they blew over the opposition in a 3-0 win, courtesy, Mumbai Marine’s star striker, Jason Fernandes’s superb hattrick performance. Marines started out with many chances and shots on target right from the go, but it was a 25th-minute goal, from Jason Fernandes, that put them ahead before the half-time.

Going into the second half, Jolly Boys had a few chances at the goal, but goalkeeper Deepak Kamble proved an impenetrable wall for the opposition. It was Jason Fernandes’s back to back goals at the 62nd and the 65th minute that proved a death knell for Jolly Boys. Jason Fernandes becomes the first player in the history of Mumbai Marines to score a very first hattrick.

Mumbai Marines will now move to the top of the table and will play the Los Galacticos on 30th October, at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel.
