Khadi and Village Industries Commission celebrates Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary year in a unique way

As the whole country is gearing to  celebrate ‘Father of the Nation’ 150th birth anniversary year, KVIC  is celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th Birth Anniversary by creating replica of Sabarmati Ashram in its premises while organizing KHADI FEST -2019 in  Mumbai from 2ndOctober to 1st November 2019. Sabarmati Ashram was home to Mahatma Gandhi from 1917 until 1930 and the Ashram served as epicenter of the country’s freedom struggle during Mahatma Gandhi stay there.  Mahatma Gandhi launched the famous Dandi march from the ashram on March 12, 1930.

Inaugurating this unique exhibition Ms. Preeta Verma, Chief Executive Officer KVIC said, the institute established by Gandhiji in 1925 in the form of All India Spinners Association has taken an enormous form of Khadi and Village Industries Commission. Speaking further she said that Gandhiji was the only persona who was not only relevant in his times but is equally relevant today.  “Let us all imbibe the ideals of Mahatma and search for the Gandhi within us. Together we can fulfill the dreams of the Mahatma in letter and Spirit. Join us in our endeavour for increasing rural employment and upliftment of Villages through the auspices of KVIC”, She added.

As a part of celebrations commemorating 150th Birth Anniversary year of Mahatmaji, various events are arranged at Mumbai, Porbandar, Sabarmati, Wardha, Champaran and Delhi commencing from 2nd October. The mega event in Mumbai is for a period of one month, with a theme based mega exhibition showcasing Gandhiji and Khadi, demonstration of Khadi & VI products/activities, sales of exclusive KVI products. Premier Khadi Institutions & PMEGP units are participating in the same and live demonstration of village industries activities/process/ status technology   contributing to the cause. On this occasion of Gandhi 150, KVIC will be providing 4O% discount on Khadi Kurta, Gandhi Topi and Dhoti and 20% discount on other Khadi and Village Industries products for a period of 4O days through our Direct Sales Outlets.
