With a planned heist gone wrong, Bony and Fundoo become inevitably involved in a pursuit of the ‘Kohinoor’, possibly one of the biggest scandals the country has or will ever witness. With Sanjay Mishra in the lead role, you can expect a laughter riot ensue in this satire-based movie. The plot centres on an aged widow, her five well-settled children and a second hand scooter that brings the house down! An unforeseen accident caused by Rukmi (Sanjay’s character) leads to a rib-tickling havoc in everyone’s lives. The satire is funny and also touches upon the importance of family relationships that is showcased in the form of Amma and her five kids. It is certainly a satire humour that you should check out for a weekend of content-binge with your family.

Starring Shreyas Talpade, Amrita Rao and Ravi Kishan in lead and supporting roles, the story of Welcome to Sajjanpur is the work of Shyam Benegal. The plot revolves around an educated man who spends his days writing letters for the diverse inhabitants of his small and penurious village where he is the only literate person. The political and social satire is truly a must-watch!

An impoverished farmer’s plight is best showcased in this Anusha Rizvi movie. The story focusses on how a farmer’s threat to end his life owing to the challenges faced leads to a massive media circus in the little town of Peepli, even inviting the attention of politicians to the problems faced by the farming community of the village. With stars such as Omkar Das Manikpur, Raghuvir Yada, Shalini Vatsa, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and more, the film became quite a sensation as it became India’s official entry for the 83rd Academy Awards Best Foreign Film category.

Aspiring to be a big star in the Bollywood film industry, an affable assistant director, Sunny, decides to join an American crew of filmmakers who visit remote parts of Rajasthan to film a documentary. Little does he expect to be kidnapped by an Islamic terrorist group, who decide to keep him hostage till their actual target is located. The film is a great example of cinema being a universal panacea for co-existence. Written and directed by Nitin Kakkar, the movie stars Sharib Hashmi, Inaamulhaq and Kumud Mishra in important roles.

  1. Well Done Abba on Jio Cinema

A political satire starring Boman Irani, Minissha Lamba and Sameer Dattani in pivotal roles, the film is based on three short stories written by Jeelani Bano (Narsaiyyan Ki Bavdi), Sanjeev (Phulwa Ka Pul) and Jayant Kripalani (Still Waters). Armaan Ali, a mild mannered chauffeur, finds himself mired in bureaucratic corruption and bribery as he tries to rid his drought-stricken village. His protests of abjuring water leads to a series of hilarious events that is worth a watch. The film has even won a National Award for its essential message.
