Six leading tourism and leisure companies sponsor the six races on the Grand Prix line-up

The 68th edition of Macao’s annual international sporting event, the Macau Grand Prix, will be held from November 19th to 21st. The Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee (MGPOC) today (October 25th) held a press conference in the Convention Hall of the Macao Science Center to announce details of the event.
Six major integrated tourism and leisure enterprises in Macao will each sponsor one of the six races which make up this year’s Macau Grand Prix programme. Guests attending the press conference included: Mr. Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government and Coordinator of the MGPOC; Mr. Chong Coc Veng, President of the Automobile General Association Macao-China and Coordinator of the of the MGPOC Sporting Subcommittee; Mr. Allen Lau Cho Un and Ms. Christine Lam Lin Kio, Deputy Coordinators of MGPOC; Ms. Angela Leong, Managing Director of SJM Resorts, S.A.; Mr. Sam Chongnin, Vice President of Corporate Communications and Community Affairs of Sands China Ltd.; Mr. Buddy Lam, Senior Vice President of Public Relations of Galaxy Entertainment Group; Mr. Raymond Lo, Senior Vice President, Property General Manager of Altira Macau & Mocha Clubs, MelcoResorts & Entertainment; Mr. Kenneth Feng, President, Chief Strategic and Financial Officer of MGM China Holdings Limited; and Ms. Linda Chen, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited.
The Macau Grand Prix is the most important sports tourism brand of the Macao Special Administrative Region. As the epidemic in Macao stabilizes, holding this year’s Grand Prix as scheduled sends a clear message and demonstrates that Macao is a vibrant and safe city to visit. The associated positive effects of the Grand Prix serve to promote the development of different industries, and thereby boost the economy. In addition, the annual Grand Prix will be broadcast to countries and regions in the mainland and overseas so as to positively promote the image of Macao.
The Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee introduces the event programme and sponsors
At the press conference, the MGPOC introduced this year’s race programme. Six races will be held and each will receive support and title sponsorship from six major integrated tourism and leisure enterprises in Macao. They are: SJM Formula 4 Macau Grand Prix; Sands China Macau GT Cup; Galaxy Entertainment Macau Guia Race; Melco Macau Touring Car Cup; MGM Greater Bay Area GT Cup; and Wynn Porsche Carrera Cup Challenge
In addition, the safety, medical, rescue and working vehicles for this year’s Grand Prix will be sponsored by BMW Concessionaires (Macau) Ltd. Meanwhile Macau Industrial Ltd. is the designated beverage sponsor of this year’s event.
Special discounts on tickets
Tickets for this year’s Grand Prix will be on sale from October 26th. The ticket price remains unchanged. The ticket price on November 19th is MOP50, while ticket prices on the race days of November 20th and 21st will be between MOP400 to 1,000, the price depending on the seating area.
In consideration of the prevailing effects of the epidemic on society and the economy, special discounts will be offered on tickets for this year’s Grand Prix. It is hoped that residents and visitors will be encouraged to come and enjoy the Grand Prix by more favorable prices.
Those who purchase two or more tickets in the same spectator stand on the same day, on either November 20th (Saturday) or November 21st (Sunday), can enjoy a 30% discount. Holders of valid Macau student cards can also purchase Student discount tickets. Each student may purchase one ticket per event day. The number is limited, while stocks last.
In order to facilitate the purchase of tickets by the public and racing fans, the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee has set up a total of 17 sales points in Macao, Hong Kong and mainland China, and has also established other sales channels such as online, telephone, email and mobile applications.
During the event, in addition to in-person counter services, each on-site ticketing center will also have self-service ticketing machines, and spectators can use credit cards and other electronic payment methods to buy tickets. In addition, this year’s Grand Prix will again implement electronic gates and electronic hand straps at the Lisboa Bend Stand and Reservoir Stand. Spectators will be issued with electronic hand straps when they enter the stands with their tickets. The gates will verify admission.
Multiple activities create a lively atmosphere
In addition to arranging exciting races for fans, the MGPOC will also organize a number of events surrounding the Grand Prix in the next few weeks. The relevant activities will be conducted in strict compliance with the epidemic prevention measures of the health authorities to ensure that participants enjoy a safe environment.
The 68th Macau Grand Prix- Family Carnival will be held at Tap Seac Square from November 6th to 7th. The area will be transformed into the Guia track and a mini circuit, allowing children to experience the various types of work involved in the Grand Prix, and to learn more about racing activities in a lively and interesting way.
The 68th Macau Grand Prix Car Show will be held from November 13th to 14th at Tap Seac Square, allowing residents and visitors to see the cars in the upcoming races up close. The Macau Grand Prix opening ceremony will also be held at the same venue at 3pm on November 13th.
In addition to being able to watch the races on site, this year the event will again be broadcast or rebroadcast via different TV stations and broadcasters, covering Macao, the mainland and different countries and regions around the world. Large-scale screens broadcasting the event will also be set up at various locations throughout the local community. In addition, in order to further promote a racing culture and encourage Macao residents to participate in the Grand Prix events in different ways, the 68th Macau Grand Prix Photo Contest will be held.
Strict epidemic prevention measures taken in response to the novel coronavirus epidemic
In order to ensure that the Grand Prix is held in safe conditions, strict epidemic prevention measures will be implemented during the event. The MGPOC will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 epidemic situation and make arrangements for epidemic prevention in a timely manner in accordance with the relevant guidelines issued by the Health Bureau.
