Aayush double century puts Nerul in commanding position

Mumbai: Aayush Shinde was in sparkling batting form and scored a 205-ball double century, 208 runs, to steer Nerul Centre to a commanding 422 for 4 wickets in 82 overs against Chembur Centre on the first day of their 2-day match of the 25th Ajit Naik Memorial Under-14 selection trials cricket tournament 2022, organised by WSC under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the SRT-2 ground, Kandivali on Monday.

The opening bat Aayush’s marathon innings was laced with 40 sweetly-times shots to the boundary ropes. Aayush’s teammates Aagneya Aadi 58 runs, Kanav Saini batting 42 runs, Varad Magar 41 runs, and Sudhan Sundarraj 36 runs made the Chembur bowlers toil. Shoaib Ansari 2 for 105 was the most successful Chembur bowler.

In another match, Azad Maidan Centre look set to take the lead against Elf Oval Central. Batting first, Azad Maidan declared their first innings at 275 for 9 wickets in 81 overs. Het Patel top-scored with 77 runs, Gajanan Narapgol and Nikhil Verma contributed 58 and 38 runs respectively, while Krishna Datta claimed 5 wickets for 59 runs and Atharva Bangar took 2 for 15 runs. Later, Saransh Sharma grabbed two quick wickets as Elf Oval were reeling at 2 wickets for just one run on the board.

Vasai Centre were well-placed to take the first innings lead against Nallasopara Centre at the Sainath Sports Club ground, Virar. Vasai dismissed Nallasopara Centre for 147 runs in 42.1 overs with Elton F. 49 runs and Prasoon Singh 31 runs being the only two Nallasopara batsmen to get some runs. Vasai bowlers Yuvraj Patil 3 for 34, Nathaniel Fereira 2 for 35, Aarav Malhotra 2 for 20, and Adved Raut 2 for 28 shared the wickets. In reply Vasai Centre were comfortably placed at 103 for 2 wickets in 30 overs with Kshitij Pradyumn Pal making 43 runs.

Naresh Sahani Group: Nallasopara Centre 147 all out, 42.1 overs (Elton F. 49, Prasoon Singh 31; Yuvraj Patil 3/34, Nathaniel Fereira 2/35, Aarav Malhotra 2/20, Adved Raut 2/28) Vs Vasai Centre 103 for 2 wickets, 30 overs (Kshitij Pradyumn Pal 43).

Bernard Santiago Group: Kalyan Centre 99 all out, 32.3 overs (Aditya V.S. 27; Ronil Jhanjani 4/23, Himanshu Singh 3/19) Vs Badalapur Centre 172 for 1 wicket, 48 overs ((Vansh Chumble batting 68, Mayur Wadhwani batting 40, Shubam Gupta 40).
