Mumbai,March: Maharashtra will host its first Senior ITF tournament by organising the 1st Mumbai Open Senior ITF Tennis Tournament from 15th to 20th March at the MSLTA courts, Cooperage, Mumbai. The Inaugural edition is being organised under the aegis of Senior ITF and MSLTA and supported by associate sponsors like Prince, Selection Center Sports, Octo, Fone X, JL Collection and Croma.
The ITF Seniors Tour is a global tennis tour that provides players aged 35 and over with high-quality tennis experience. 2018 saw 26,000 registered players from 70 countries participate in 450 +tournaments. The pinnacle of the Tour is the annual World Championships, which caters for three distinct age categories – Young Seniors (35-45+), Seniors (50-60+) and Super-Seniors (65-85+), at both team and individual level. ITF Seniors tournaments range from Grade A (aimed at elite players) to Grade 4 (aimed at recreational level), featuring singles, doubles and mixed doubles events for each five year age increment from 35+ to 65+.
All participants registered with the Senior ITF are eligible to participate in the tournament and the winner stands a chance to score 75 points. The registration fees for the tournament is ₹3,000 and the last date of registrations is 10th March.
