Mumbai…December, 2018…. The Spirit of Pinkathon Pune2Mumbai Run Powered By Farmlite was flagged off by Milind Soman at University circle, Pune today at 5:00 am. Twenty-six women from Mumbai between the age group of 30 years to 55 years will be running 160 kms from Pune to Mumbai over three days to spread the message of health & fitness for all women. The run starts on 13th December from Pune and will end on 15th December at the iconic Mumbai University, Kalina. None of these women are trained athletes or elite runners. They are ordinary women who took up running for health and fitness.

Commenting on the Spirit of Pinkathon Pune2Mumbai Run Powered By Farmlite, Model and Founder of Pinkathon Milind Soman said, “We want to change the mind-set of the society regarding overall fitness. We want to sensitise everyone that fitness is important across age groups and that one needs to take their own health seriously especially women who get bogged down by daily routine of life. Spirit of Pinkathon run is a city to city run taken up by Pinkathon ambassadors to spread the message that ‘If I can, anyone can.’ Similar such runs have been organised in the past from Mumbai to Goa, Bangalore to Chennai, Jaipur to Delhi and recently Pondicherry to Chennai by the first visually impaired girl to run Spirit of Pinkathon. There have been three editions of the Spirit of Pinkathon Mumbai2Pune Run organised so far. The first edition of the Spirit of Pinkathon Mumbai2Pune Run in 2016 saw three women, Sonia Kulkarni, Aparna D’Souza and Sharmila Munj run the 100 miles distance from Mumbai to Pune. Inspired by them, 20 women took up the challenge and ran the distance of 160 kms from Mumbai to Pune over three days in 2017. This year in 2018, 38 women will run Spirit of Pinkathon between Mumbai and Pune.”

Milind further added that, “The girls have trained hard, over the last six months and have gone through several qualifying rounds testing their physical and mental capabilities along with endurance. They are ready to take up the challenge. Half the challenge is already won with so much of preparation underway. I am indeed proud of them as first time such a big all women’s group from Mumbai is running a 100 miler from Pune2Mumbai. I will be pacing them for a part of the distance.”

The runners will be ably supported by a team of pacers, crew, doctors and physios. Enough care has been taken to ensure injury free run.  The twenty-six women participants running from Pune2Mumbai are:
