On Breastfeeding week Doctors and nurses performed skit to create awareness about Breastfeeding

Mumbai, 5th August, 2019August first week is celebrated as a World Breastfeeding Week in the world. WABA the World Alliance of Breastfeeding Action has a theme every year based on which the celebrations are held. The theme this year is ” Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding. Hence, Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital doctors and nurses performed a skit/street play to spread the word about breastfeeding and it’s myths and facts.

More than 75 females which were To Be moms and New moms were the part of the activity as necessary knowledge about benefits & techniques of breastfeeding . Demonstrations on various lactation methods were also provided for mothers who find it difficult to breastfeedso that they are inspired to overcome whatever  challenges they face to do successful & exclusive breastfeeding. Lactation consultant, Doctors and  Nurses were the participant of the event who cleared the myths of breastfeeding by their act.  Myths  like first milk, the colostrum  is not good for the new born, Mother’s milk is not enough for the baby as the baby cries at night were debunked.

Dr Minnie Bodhanwala, CEO, Wadia hospitals, says, “We at Wadia hospital constantly strive to promote Breastfeeding by celebrating the Breastfeeding week every year. We have observed that still there are many myths in the females and their family and hence such plays are conducted to educate them. All infants should be given mother’s milk as it has long term benefits for the baby and will also help in the child’s health. Wadia Hospital’s milk bank reserves 500 litres of milk every year. Each day, approximately 15 to 20 preterm babies benefit from this milk bank facility whose mothers who are unable to feed their babies.  ” .
