Bootcamp endurance test for the lead actors of Namah

by Suman Gupta

Actors exhibiting a toned body is a common sight in the entertainment industry. The actors take extreme care and shape their physique diligently to mould themselves for the character that they portray on screen. We rarely get to hear about a phenomenon where actors had to  go through a series of  strenous activities to ensure they fit the covered character to a tee. This is exactly what happened with the last actors of Starplus’ upcoming mythological show ‘Namah’! They had to pass a rigorous ‘bootcamp’ test of sorts to secure the role of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.

After exploring more than 40 cities for the lead role of Star Plus’s latest mythological show Namah, the makers zeroed down on Vikkas Manaktala and Savi Thakur, who perfectly fit the criteria of the role of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu respectively. To test their physical fitness, the makers of the show planned an extreme challenge for the two handsome hunks. The bootcamp test was by no means a cakewalk, designed to ensure that the toughest athletes too break a sweat as they try their best to overcome the hurdles set on their path. The activities and format were modelled on aspects of fitness training used in military camps. The actors also underwent diet modification and extensive hours in gym to pass the bootcamp test and secure the titular roles of the two gods of Hindu dynasty.

Commenting on his experience, Savi Thakur said ”It was of course as much a challenge as it is a privilege for me to essay the role of Lord Vishnu. In my opinion, it is very important for an artist to ensure that the vision set forward by the creative team for a certain role is portrayed in the correct manner. It was by no means an easy task to fit into this dream role. I have put in all my efforts to ensure that my rendition of Lord Vishnu appeals to the audiences. Namah will bring to television the never before known story of friendship between Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.”

Namah will narrate the mystic tale of friendship of two unique school of thoughts, entities and divinities, the two gods from Hindu mythology Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.

‘Namah’ airs from 23rd September at 7 pm every Monday to Friday only on StarPlus.
